Power Ups and Hidden Tech

In Singular Event, like many other "metroidvanias" you collect power ups and upgrades to your overall kit. Be it for movement, offence or a defensive buff to your play. One example being one of my personal favourites: Double Jump.

The Double Jump does exactly as the name suggests (Though in the game, it is called something different!) allows you to jump not once, but twice! Double the excitement and double the exploration and adventure!

I love double jumps more than a lot of movement tech because it just scratches a part of my lizard brain just right. That aside, it also opens up a lot you  can do and the executions generally always feel pretty good. Not to throw shade or anything, but the endless jumps have always felt bad, especially if you can't seem to get the execution down for whatever reason.

So with the double jump aside, if you have played the demo (please give it a try and let me know what you think, I read everything!) you may have notice little Shield containers kicking around that you can collect. They ultimately increase your "health" so you can keep exploring and fighting just a bit longer. For those that have gotten to the end of the demo and collected it, you have already seen one of the other first upgrades you get: The Spread Shot. (It's a shotgun!)

All in all, there are quite a few upgrades, health and "attack power" aside, but until the dust settles on just how much I can squeeze into this game, I'm not going to announce the exact ones just yet.....However

There are some things that I snuck into the demo that I have noticed a lot of testers that I had the pleasure of witnessing play it in person not use or even try:

You can aim and shoot upwards, crouch and shoot downwards!

....I still need to get that shooting down sprite done, don't I? Well, I know what I am off to do!

Thank you all for reading, and until next time,

Stay hydrated folks!
